Expressive Arts Therapy
Our lives are made up of many pieces. Like a mosaic or painting viewed up close, we have difficulty seeing how the elements work together to form a picture.
Expressive arts help us to see things from a different perspective and to utilize a different part of ourselves to explore and express what’s going on. They open us to creative processes that can help us consider different approaches to our life’s challenges. Expressive arts are mindful activities that can ground us and support us in alleviating anxiety, working through perfectionism, and restore ourselves so we can better meet the challenges we face on a day-to-day basis. Expressive arts therapies, utilize visual arts, crafts, music, movement and nature based activities.
We all have the capacity to change and grow. Given the time, space and support we need, we can often find solutions when we get creative. Expressive arts therapies support growth and build resilience through the creative process, and the process is where healing takes place.
